It seems like “climate change denier” is a term meant to cast someone who looks at the evidence yet comes to a different conclusion as being deluded. I say that there should be an equivalent opposite term, something like “climate change enabler”, to describe someone who enables climate change to be claimed as a decided scientific fact, when there is plenty of contrary evidence. And we can add the fact that the primary “climate change” movers and shakers have their pockets lined with “climate change” profits, or potential profits. The truth is that there has always been “climate change” and there always will be “climate change”. Tell me, why did they change the name of the scenario from “global warming” to “global climate change”?

Gregg- caught the rebroadcast of your lecture, it was very insightful- my wife popped in and watched the last few minutes with me- She asked who you were and I responded that you are an ESPN Columnist/Commentator among many other things. I think I would take the “Economist” title as opposed to, say, “the Christmas Creep Theorist” title; besides, someone might put the emphasis on the wrong word and focus on the Creep instead of theorist! Keep up the good work, I always enjoy your thoughtful and thought-provoking columns.

We have tortured the numbers a lot, and yes they confess roughly what you claim: There is progress. But it is very uneven, and it’s worth looking at the detail. Check the MDG Dashboard at http://esl.jrc.it/dc/mdg_unsd/mdg_fv2.htm
One good news is perhaps that “aid”, in the widest sense, seems to have effect; the Least Developed Countries (=most aided countries) as a group show more progress than any other country group. The bad news is that Africa lags behind…

I just watched The Colbert Report and even with the constant interruptions found the interview very interesting! I definitely will look forward to reading your book. Interviewing with him must be very frustrating but nevertheless you got some good information (and a couple jokes) in.
